James Vickers, MSW RSW
James Vickers, Director of Counselling Associates, is a family
therapist with over fourteen years of clinical experience. He has
helped hundreds of individuals, families, couples and youth.
Much of Mr. Vickers' clinical experience has involved
helping clients who had been in counselling previously but had not
found solutions to their problems.
Mr. Vickers has presented numerous workshops and training programs to
the public and professional community on topics such as: parent
group treatment, brief therapy, parenting adolescents, group
psychotherapy, treating adolescent sex offenders, and community
development. He consults to social agencies and the media and has
appeared as a clinical consultant on the television series
"The Baxters". He co-authored
"Group Therapy for Parents of Youths with a Conduct
Disorder" published in the Canadian Medical Association
Journal (October 1994.)
Mr. Vickers has trained extensively in individual, family, and group
therapy in Canada and the United States. His three adult children
have contributed significantly to his understanding of families
and family dynamics. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work,
and is a Registered Member of the Ontario College of Social
Workers and Social Service Workers. He is a member of the
Ontario Association of Social Workers, the Employee Assistance
Program Association of Toronto and the American Orthopsychiatric
Association.
James Vickers is a member of the Board of Directors of "Emily
Stowe Shelter for Women and Children."
